That Sweet Goofy Boy I Grew Up With…

I had the pleasure of growing up in Calgary with Jordan and Ashley as neighbors and classmates; they were nearly as formative to my childhood as siblings.  From the countless hours spent at your house to sharing the same classroom at Chinook Winds Academy for 12 years, many of my childhood memories have Jordan in them.

Your family was always so welcoming, and I cherish my memories of ski trips, summer days by the lake, and making movies for class projects. I remember listening to him practice playing the piano, or just sitting on the couch eating his favorite snack–salt & vinegar potato chips or a bowl of cereal. I remember one time while chasing us around the house, he backed into a broken glass frame and sliced his heel open. Then he proceeded to hop around on the beige carpet until we stopped and helped him bandage it up (and then helped him scrub the carpet before you came home!).

He was always there, smiling or being goofy, in the majority of most of my childhood memories…its hard to really believe that he’s gone. And he was so smart…I used to hate that I would beat him on tests by just a few points, even though I knew he spent a quarter of the time studying than I did. Not to mention how outrageously gifted athletically he was. Over half the banners our school won in high school were due to Jordan’s contributions to the team – basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, flag football…he was unstoppable!

I’ll always remember Jordy as that silly gangly kid who just wanted to make others smile. He’ll remain in my memories and heart as that sweet goofy boy I grew up with, the only one who’s ever made me laugh so hard that milk came out of my nose!

I’m so sorry for the loss of Jordan and all the tremendous potential for joy and love he had to give to the world.

Love, Heather
